Blue + White Sunroom

*This post in partnership with Smith & Noble window treatments.

This is my most favorite room in the Las Vegas house because of its abundant natural light, high sloped ceiling, and arched entry. This space was originally designed as a formal dining room but currently I am using as a more casual sitting room or sunroom.

I have future plans to add built ins on the far wall and swap the table for a larger desk so that it can function as a home office for future tenants/renters, but today it’s lovely just as it is, filled with a few thrift store finds, some accessories, and beautiful new window treatments from Smith & Noble.

This room sat empty for the longest time, acting as a storage space but I decided it was time to make it a more welcoming place to sit and relax with morning coffee or afternoon tea and a stack of magazines or a laptop.

Here is a reminder of what the space was like when we bought the house, since then we’ve changed the flooring to tile and freshened with paint and swapped out the light fixture. I think you’ll agree the window treatments are much improved!

I’ve partnered with Smith & Noble before because their window treatments are such high quality (their plantation shutters are so well made, I’ve also featured their unique wave fold drapery for a sliding door.)

Today is a third feature and one of my favorite kinds of window treatments, the layered woven shade + decorative panel combo which works in just about any space you can imagine from bedrooms to dining rooms.

These casual hidden tab drapes were custom made in the Encounter Sky fabric and hang on wrought iron hardware. You can also order fabric by the yard from Smith & Noble and make your own. Be sure to take advantage of their free samples for all window treatments!

The jute woven shades are waterfall style in the Ananda Mist color, unlined to allow light to filter into the space since privacy is not an issue. The combination of both fabric panels and woven shades adds beautiful pattern and texture to the space!

Just like with the wave fold drapery, I sent Smith & Noble a diagram of the windows and ideal measurements, but a simple hand drawn sketch will do or you can have one of their team members come to your home to measure and/or install.

The table and chairs are both thrift store finds, the table was a honey colored wood but I painted it white following the same steps as this post on painting a kitchen table. It’s a four step process of sanding, then priming, then painting, and adding a protective coat of clear wax.

The sunroom has a tropical style with its ocean inspired palette, mix of textures, and leafy botanicals.

Two of the white vases and the trio of blue baskets on the wall are from West Elm as is the little faceted box, the tray is from Pottery Barn, the brass fish is vintage. The rattan pendant is from Joss & Main, so is the curved metal leg table, both purchased last year. The rug is from Overstock, available here.
