Tour ‘Faith & Flower’: One of America’s Best Designed & Decorated Restaurants

One of my daughter’s roommates works in a fabulous restaurant in downtown LA. It’s name:

Faith & Flower.

My son and his fiance were able to pose for a few pics in there for their engagement photos. They were taken by his sister (my daughter), Tori, a professional photographer. (And yes… it was a sweet mama moment. ;-)

We booked a glamorous lunch and celebrated my mother-in-law's birthday there too. As someone who’s obsessed with interiors, I couldn’t help but marvel at the restaurant’s beautiful details and surroundings. I mean of course the food was delicious, and the drinks were even better (Google “milk punch” (or here, I’ll just do it for you), but…

The interior design was what engaged me most. ;-)

When you walk in everything looks quite grand, with all kinds of drama all around.

But I was really smitten when we sat down at our table and I saw the chunky emerald green glasses bursting with bright color on the wood tables; paired with a rustic yet shiny pewter finish Juliska plate, and some vintage-look flatware. Because yes… I notice all those details. As a matter of fact, those details catch my eye way before the design concept of the whole space and its drama strikes me.

From those few elements, and then the chairs (a forest green leather with nailheads), I deducted an insider, club-ish, sophisticated, old-Hollywood-yet-very-current LA atmosphere.

  • It was sweet (the flatware) while being masculine (the chairs).
  • The plates, they were shiny yet chunky — such a nice contrast of the masculine and feminine.
  • The touches of art deco then began to unfold and even more of that LA energy crept into the atmosphere.
  • The crystal pendants, the wall decor (the hand mirrors: how Hollywood!), that gorgeous gold velvet banquette… All of it was sumptuous! (And so comfy, too. ;-)

You know... When details, shapes, materials, motifs, etc. are repeated around a space, it reinforces the design. And yes...

We definitely noticed their incredible attention to detail.

Here's a rundown of some of the other aspects we noticed at Faith & Flower:

Chains: they were in the lighting, wall decor, at the sheer drapery.

I’d pay good money to know that paint color on the ceiling and woodwork. It was a very dark, grayed-out navy/black. So if anyone knows… please fill me in. It was the perfect foil for the sparkle of the lighting.

And when great art is cladding the walls to the bathroom, you know someone really cares about your dining experience.

My mother-in-law had a sweet birthday surprise. She’s over 80 years old and well… That’s all we’re going to say about that. :-)

This private dining room is divine for so many reasons:

And, just as you'd expect from a place like Faith & Flower, the rest of the restaurant was equally as beautiful as what I showed you above.

Here, take a look for yourself...
