Without much storage or organization, this home office was not a desireable place to spend time, much less concentrate on work.
We redesigned it for a busy working couple to organize and store lots of books and technical documents, as well as provide a quiet, well-crafted place to work in the evenings and on weekends.
Here are the before shots:

While small in footprint, this home office packs in lots of storage by utilizing tall built-in cabinetry and a simplified style.
Here's how we achieved its comfortable style and function:
◆ The homeowner wanted white painted cabinetry, but the touches of stained wood relate it to the wood throughout the rest of the house. This helps to break up the space into taller vertical elements, thereby creating focus on the true benefit this small space offers: higher ceilings.

◆ One critical feature we were assigned to achieve here was to hide all the cords and equipment. (Refer to the accompanying design plan for details.) A simple trough for guiding wires to the adjacent cabinet (where all the equipment was housed) keeps things neat and tidy. Each piece of equipment was carefully measured and allotted space on the roll-out shelves, giving real meaning to the term: custom-designed.
◆ We notched the rug into the knee space so their chair with casters wouldn't slip off the edge of the rug. The rug inserted in beautifully and fits the space like a glove. A repetition of geometric pattern keeps the style simple and clean.
