Trend Alert: Geometric Accents for a Modern Twist

Geometric accents are a smart and simple way to create visual interest and a touch of modern styling in your home decorating. This style of decor accent isn’t just reserved for contemporary or midcentury modern homes. Geometric accents have found their way into more traditional or even rustic decor. No matter what your decorating style might be, I invite you to experiment with geometrics by adding a “pop of modern” to create irony and juxtaposition against a more elegant or rustic backdrop.

Geometric designs and patterns don’t need to take over your space. They can offer a clean and subtle accent, even in your outdoor decor. Think of the term, “organic architecture” coined by Frank Lloyd Wright who believed that his homes could coexist in perfect harmony with the environment. (See source).

I personally lean towards rustic decorating styles where traditionally modern accents might not fit. Yet my thrift-store planter filled with seashells added a touch of modern where one was needed, as seen on my DIY industrial side table we made during our recent room remodel.
