5 Step DIY Repurposed Coaster Gift Set for the Holidays

Hi again! It’s Dinah from DIY Inspired and today I want to share another great repurposing project using left over laminate flooring planks. In case you missed it, I have made a welcome sign, a coat hanger, and a vintage inspired serving tray, all from laminate flooring! This time, I’m sharing a tutorial for how to make a coaster gift set that’s easy and perfect for the holidays.

Time: 30-45 Minutes + overnight for drying

Materials:

  • Flooring Planks
  • Thin Corkboard
  • Saw
  • Goggles
  • Clamps
  • Pencil
  • Straight Edge
  • Scissors
  • Industrial Strength Glue

A table saw would be ideal for this project, but I have to share that while making these, my saw broke and I used a circular saw instead. A table saw would have been much easier and quicker! So with my adjustments, I had to measure, draw, and cut the coasters to 4″X4″ in size. This is the ideal coaster size. For this project, I’m using Kronoswiss Noblesse in Shabby Chic laminate.

Next, measure and cut a 4″X4″ piece of corkboard for each coaster using a straightedge, pencil, and scissors.

Use industrial strength glue like E6000 to glue the laminate coaster and cork together.

Glue Cork and Laminate Pieces Together

Clamp your set of coasters together while the glue dries overnight.

Clamp pieces together to ensure a tight hold

Finished Glues Coasters

Package them together with a bow and a gift tag. These make great gifts for friends, neighbors, and teachers. Want to add a little more to these? Try stenciling a pattern or letter to customize the coasters.

Packaged up and ready for gifting!
