Recently I had the pleasure of being on the 3rd floor balcony after dark one evening, looking down at all the lights across the lake — it was truly magical. During the day it is peaceful and calm. While watching the rowers on Saturday morning I was chatting with another designer — it felt very east coast and luxurious. It is a special house indeed.
While exploring the upper floors you will find these designers and rooms:
At the far end of the house there’s an interesting space under the eaves with a private balcony. Rhonnika Clifton has designed this bedroom and bath with a feminine, glamorous vibe. It’s the perfect hideaway for a teenaged girl, or even a mother-in-law suite or guest room. Love those gorgeous marble tiles in the bathroom!

Latrice Gentry-Brooks of Chiffon Interiors designed the game room with a lounge space and a game/dining table area. What a chic place to have a private party and hang out with friends. That sleek coffee table and geometric patterned rug are a perfect combination.

Amy Salazar and Lauren Prestridge from Mark Todd Architects set up a craft room in one of the many upstairs bedrooms. It’s ready for you to sit down and get to work with some clever storage ideas and lots of cool ways to organize your supplies. Everyone who crafts would love to have a room like this set up in their home.

Garlaine Kelly of Encore Interior Design designed an art deco bedroom and bath in her space upstairs. She has some fine antiques, rich color, and special lighting that showcases this distinctive style. Her bedding is so luxurious you just want to dive in.

The media room was designed by Sharon Sudbury Staley of Sharon Staley Interiors. It also has an amazing view, as well as a door to the balcony that connects to the adjacent bedrooms. Comfy seating and glass sculpture by Bill Meeks are featured in this space.

But wait...we’re not done! One more flight up, on the third floor, is the space for the man of the house. Done in a masculine style, this space has a fireplace, bar, wine cave, game area, lounge seating, small bathroom, and even an exercise room! The balcony overlooks the lake and completes this entire space. It was designed by Donna Jarnigan of Lacy-Boone Interiors, our co-chair for the Showhouse. It’s an absolute must-see on the tour, as it underwent a complete redo.

I have to share this photo I grabbed of Donna at the showhouse on Sunday; she’s wearing Pantone’s 2016 Color of the Year: Serenity. Yes, she had this outfit before the 2016 COTY was announced. Designers are always a bit ahead of the game, you know. :-)

As designers, we can borrow items for our rooms from local showrooms or shops, or we even end up purchasing those items or making them custom for our spaces. After all, this is a place where we want to shine by doing what we do best: designing a space all the way through and customizing it. That’s just how we do what we do. ;-)
Buying from a showhouse is often a deal. We use all our contacts and vendor relations to get the best deals for our rooms. We know these items may not sell during the showhouse, so we’re after the best deal possible; because, after all, we might have to continue to own them when the whole thing is over. :-/ Showrooms and vendors also love to have their products featured in showhouses, so they typically extend us further discounts to help us out and show off their products. We add a small percentage for ASID, a small percentage for us, and then offer these products to the public at prices less than what they would normally go for. Not only are you getting beautiful, special furnishings and decor, but you are getting them a special price that’s not normally available to the public.
So have a look around, visit with the designers, and if you don’t want to buy the home…
