How Do I Choose Matching Transition Molding Colors?

Dear Bob and Betsy,

I am purchasing laminate flooring for my home, but I am not installing it in every room. Do you have transition pieces that match my flooring? The flooring would be next to carpet.

– Lisa M.

Dear Lisa,

We understand that you would be worried that a transition molding wouldn't match your floor. But no need to worry! We're here to help you at Bestlaminate!

Moldings Are Blended To Match

We want to make it clear that there are no “exact matches” when it comes to molding, unless the manufacturer has made custom molding for their floors. Most companies do, but they can be much more expensive. Keep this in mind when you are looking for laminate flooring moldings.

The Three Things To Look For

  1. Molding Color

  2. Molding's Lightness or Darkness

  3. Molding's Grain Patterns

First you should look at the color of the molding compared to the flooring. Choose a hue that looks similar to the flooring. The closer the better.

Second, you should determine if the shade of the molding is close to the shade of the flooring. If it's a little off, it won't matter so much as if the color is off.

The last thing to look for is the grain in the molding. The grain patterns on the molding should look similar to the flooring. This is the last piece that you should look for when choosing molding. Most times the grain isn't that noticable.
