1. Wide planks. The size of the hardwood flooring’s planks make a big impact on the feel of the space. Wide planks make the room look larger, rustic and contemporary all at the same time. Each year, homeowners continue to opt for wider and wider planks across their hardwood floors.
2. Dark hardwood flooring. Dark hues provide a wonderful contrast to light décor, and gives the room a contemporary, classic feel. As the Flooring Girl explains, “The two most popular stains are ebony (darkest and coolest) and jacobean (a very dark brown, but a tad warmer than ebony)...many customers opt for a 50/50 blend of jacobean and ebony for a deep and rich tone. This color is often called espresso.” In addition to providing a stunning visual, darker wood flooring is better at hiding the imperfections, too.
