Superior Woodcraft and the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce recently collaborated to produce the 6th Annual Bucks Locavore~Buy-Local Networking Event. The frigid temperatures and snow masses didn't deter a record attendance of over 850 guests. On February 26, 2015, Superior Woodcraft, customer cabinet maker in Doylestown, hosted the event in their historical factory.
The event gave participants the unique opportunity to network while sampling specially prepared foods, beverages, and delicacies from over 30 of the region’s top local producers. Including Ayala Herbal Water, Bill’s Best BBQ Sauces, Blue Moon Acres, The Brown Soap Company, Bucks County Brewery, Bucks County Preserves, Buckingham Valley Vineyard, Castle Valley Mill, Crooked Eye Brewery, Confection Perfection, Doylestown Brewing Company, Doylestown Food Coop, Giggling Goat Dairy, Graziano’s Products, Flint Hill Farms, Fulper Family Farms, Hewn Spirits, Homestead Coffee Roasters, Just Food, Laurie’s Chocolates, Mainly Mushrooms, The Market at Del Val College, Nina’s Waffles, Olive Oil Etc., Perfect Day Coffee, Pig and Hen Catering, Rabbit Run Farm, Rose Bank Winery, Sweet Victory Gluten and Dairy Free Treats and Wycombe Vineyards.
The Bucks Locavore annual event is one of the largest and few of its kind in the area encouraging business networking while offering a fresh perspective on what it means to shop the local vendors. The buy-local movement in Bucks County has matured in the last several years as residents and businesses alike unify to keep dollars circulating within their own communities and, as a result, are experiencing a markedly stronger revenue growth. New to the event this year was Fulper Family Farm. Gina Davio, Sales Manager with Fulper raved,” We only began making dairy products under our family name 3 years ago and this type of event is exactly what a small, local business like ours needs to thrive!! You can't beat being at an event like this with like minded community members that know the value of small businesses, and locally grown food”
Returning to Bucks Locavore this year was Castle Valley Mill who served their delicious stoned ground grits while at a neighboring table Hewn Sprits offered tastings of New Moon moonshine. Guests who relished the grits and moonshine won’t have to visit two places as Hewn Spirits serves Castle Valley Mill’s products in their tasting room. Bucks Locavore ~Buy Local event creates new business to business opportunities in addition to providing an environment that increases consumer demand. The event explores the synergies of working together to create a situation where the sum of the parts is greater than the individual parts. Vail Garvin, CEO of Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce commented, “The Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce is proud to be encouraging our community to participate in the locavore movement. Supporting the businesses in our community is vital to a thriving regional environment.”
Host Patrick Kennedy, VP of Superior Woodcraft summed it up perfectly, "The entrepreneurial spirit at the Locavore~Buy Local event is contagious." Keep your calendars open for the 7th Annual Bucks Locavore event, slated for late February 2016.
